IGNIS! Orientation is coming up soon!
Next year, there will be two official orientations – one for the new intake of Secondary 1 and 3 students and another for the new intake of JC1s. All students can choose to be OGLs for either Orientation 1 only, Orientation 2 only or for both Orientation 1 and 2. Orientation 1 will be held in the 2nd week of January – tentatively from the 12th to the 14th of January – and Orientation 2 will be held in the 1st week of February – tentatively from the 2nd to the 4th of February.

Dear Ignis

The 41st HAT would like to say that, despite coming in last for the NE cup, this doesn't mean we're defeated. We're still proud of our house - and of the performers who put so much on the line to stand up there and give it for Ignis (to the 3 magicians: everybody agrees that your xishuashua was incredibly funnily mindblowing) and those who came down to help in propsmaking - and we hope you'll continue to give us your support in all future events, and all house activities no matter how big or small.

This may be one setback for us - and we're sorry to have disappointed you - but failure is temporary and we promise to get there in the end!! We really hope you'll continue giving us your support and continue showing everybody this is why we're hot - because we never give up.

The last house event for the year will be the Games Festival, which is slated to happen on the 3rd of October. So here's a call to all sportsmen and women! If you've been inspired by the Olympic Games 2008, here's your chance to shine and put up a good showing too - for Ignis! Will release the details when they come out.

Racial Harmony Day

Hello Ignis!

This year's theme for Racial Harmony Day is "Many Faces, One Singapore".
To celebrate Racial Harmony, there will be a competition between the Houses for Popular book voucher, and HOUSE POINTS.

All you have to do is to write your perspectives, thoughts and reflections on living in Singapore, relating to the theme. Simple right?
1. Each entry is to be produced by a max. of 2 pple.
2. At least one entry must be written in Chinese, Malay or Tamil.
3. Each entry no longer than 200 words, with wordcount stated.
4. All entries to be submitted by 23 July.

HI EVERYONE!

the next biggest event coming up is...Challenge Shield! It's 5-a-side soccer this time around!

here are some details:

1. matches held 17th-18th july
2. a team comprises of 5 players plus one substitute
3. minimum 2 girls, maximum 2 soccer guys
4. registration fee of $10 a team

I know the price may seem a bit steep..but i promise you the prizes are good - Island Creamery vouchers for the top 3 teams! $30 worth of vouchers for the top prize. mmhmm!

so what are we waiting for let's get kicking!

Firstly I'd like to thank everybody for their support at Relay Championships! From the runners - good job guys (: (: for giving your all, to those who came and cheered and totally redefined what enthusiasm is about, and showed everyone else this is why we're hot! keep the flame of Ignis burning strong (: And special mention to 08s08 for helping us with the decorations and hanging of banners!

Although we didn't come in top 3 I'm really really proud to call myself an Ignis-ian (:

Secondly well done to all those involved in Food Fair (: Thanks to 08A02 for the lovely lovely banner and the effort put in into putting up all the banners and deco, and to 08S14 for the manpower! And of course the classes 08s02 (whose Ignis Fizz was really amazing!) 08s08 (for very good beehoon which mr tan himself endorsed), 08ip (whose cheese sausages totally stole the show), 07ip (who bake wicked muffins), 06ip (whose otah had tremendous attracting power!)

And special mention for Belle of 07ip even if she couldn't make it on the day itself!

Anyhow, hope you guys are having a good break! For the j1s and ip3s, jia you for CTs! All the way all the way (: and j2s haha congrats on surviving your CTs and jia you for prelims and As! And come for grad night ok!

Next in line is the Challenge Shield event for term 3, watch this space for more details!!!

today was sizzling hot!-laughs-

first we had the announcement today...06ip06 was super! (: they clinched a second in the Gavel Club's Story-telling competition.and our house is currently in second place for the Challenge Shield! (:

later in the afternoon, we also had another round of Heats and Finals for the Relay Championships! (: one of our 4x200m guys came in FIRST! our 4x800m guys came in SECOND!and one of our 4x100m team came in second in the heats!all the runners and teams were really running their hardest and we could see it.-touched-

thanks to all the ppl who stayed back to cheer for their own classmates esp. those from 07s20 and s14! (: you guys rocked! "LAO BAN!" -laughs- thanks to joel and kah ho for being so ever enthu even tho they din get to run the 4x100m due to some rules. ): thanks to shi liang from 07s08 (my class!hee.), for being ever so obliging and joining in the race last minute. (yes, i owe you bubble tea!)

we also had our council EXCO elections today...or rather tonight.-laughs- so i know who is our next HOUSE CAPT!!! (: you'll get to c her and the rest of the 41st ignis councillors during our house session tmr! (:

met up with Laura and Jacq from the 41st Ignis councillors today at KAP! (: we were discussing about the upcoming House Session and Relay Championship Day...

and we came up with a new cheer to use for a cheering competition during the Day itself.will teach you guys during House Session (but House Session is not all about cheering, don't worry.hee.) if you guys are interested, listen carefully to the NEW SONG on the blog!-laughs-basically the new cheer is quite simple, you guys most of the time just have to repeat after us, so you dun have to remember much! (: hahaha.

we're at LT 2 and LT 3 for the house session.yes, 2 venues.cos our dear LT5 is NOT OPEN yet. ): and if we conducted the session at the grandstand, it will be really hard to communicate with you all.so we have to split up the house (listen up to the announcement on the day itself).but we will join up again at the later part of the session if it doesn't rain heavily, at the grandstand when we are armed with our cheers and READY TO COMBINE AND SCREAM! (: (: (:

hope you guys will enjoy and participate actively in our house session cos...it's the last one planned by the 4oth HAT.oh btw, you may not see all the 40th HAT for most of the session cos we are split up in pairs for the 2 LTs.cross your fingers it won't rain so you can see ALL OF US for the last time leading.haha.

anws, today is INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY! (: there were stalls in the linkway today, hope you all saw!and browsed around too.there were actually food for u all to buy and try and games for you all to play.but think the overall publicity for the event wasn't that big so many people din know.

kk.our darling 08ip06ers were at the RED vietnamese store today!with the yummy traditional food and some even got to see their game in progress.the one where the player has to jump between poles to get from one end to another, while some people create a rhythm by tapping the poles together and on the floor. our dear jiayi was also representing her class at the poster display, in a pretty viet costume! (:

Inter-house Recycling Competition!

Yo guys!

The official notice to kickstart this year's RECYLING COMPETITION has been given!

Here is all the information you need to know about it and how to go about it:

Competition Details:

Things to collect: Newspapers/Books/Magazines/Can Tabs

When to start collecting: NOW!

Rule to take note of:

-Brand new newspapers would be disqualified, as the objective of the competition is to recycle.
E.g Stacks of newspapers bought from the newsstand

How to go about it:

1) Collect the items from your home/your friend’s home/your relative’s home.

2) Ask your acquaintances i.e. family, friends, relatives and teachers (basically anyone and everyone) to start collecting too! (: and pass it to you later, of course! (its for a good cause)

3) Keep a lookout and collect can tabs, for example, when you are in a drink store, hawker centre, food court, etc. etc. You can make trips to such places if you want! (:

4) Any other honest means you can think of

Submission:

When to submit: 7th April (Monday) to 24th April (Thursday)

Note: Tie up newspapers/books/magazines in stacks using raffia string and place a piece of paper on top of each stack and on it, write “IGNIS” and your class. Wash and dry your can tabs (either string them up or put them in a plastic bag, label with a marker or written paper)

Leave the items at the recycling corner (outside LT1) in the area Ignis has been allocated to.

p.s. we expect at least 20 sets of newspapers (thickness with respect to Straits Times: the entire issue from the main paper to classified) from each class per week!!!

lots of things are happening during this holidays! (: the JC1s and IP3 will be pia-ing their videos so we can c c on fri. IP1s and IP2s will be polishing up their International Friendship Day proposals (store/poster).

btw, JC2s, just in case you're interested. we kind of know the Case Study question alr. or rather, this is the latest info we have! it has sth to do with...

Sports being able to promote international friendship and cultivate cooperation, intereaction and understand among different people.

Its sort of a GP question, you have to agree or disagree. But the answer has to be less than 150 words. (: Got time to research and think. So do so, before your contact period on the 31st of March! (:

Alrighty yo, (that's my name catchphrase! as discovered by my darling class rep) today lots of people got back their Mother tongue papers too. International Friendship Day and more!

Yo guys! (:

lots of stuff coming up for you guys to participate in for International Friendship Day!

the IP1s are setting up stalls with games/food with respect to a certain country, we're doing Vietnam (wonder if that was on purpose but anws...haha.). So on the day itself (should be 31st March), go and support our dear 08IP06-ers ok? (: 1120 to 1420.

the IP2s are doing a bazaar poster and they may add props.

JC1s/IP3s have to do a short video clip on 4 set themes (diplomacy, terrorism, conservation and natural disasters), and relate to how each theme affects relations between Singapore and 2 other countries or how Singapore is working to address the issue. Each class is working on one theme, except for 08S02 and 08S08, they are combining efforts and they promise double standards! Hee. We have to VOTE for their clips online later! Will remind you guys again when the time comes... (:

JC2s have to do a Case Study during Contact time in Term 2. GOOOO JC2s! haha.

A lot to do rights? (: JIA JIA YOU GUYS! (: Let's put in our best efforts and help one another if others need help ya? e.g. video-making expertise.hehe.

Tmr is a busy day for IGNIS HAT! (: wonder why? We are meeting up with some JC1 HAs to pass them the Informal House Tee details for them to collect orders, lists for the classes to fill up so that we can contact each other better, and a special GIFT for their CTs! (yes yes, to formally welcome them into our house!)

we would love to hear from any of you, and hopefully by late march we can revise the cheer to something which sounds more catchy and easier to do.

today the JC1s and IPs had house session at the grandstand cum track!hee.

first we introduced the house system and our dahling House Affiliates.-laughs-they walked in with the igora and ignis banners! (: it was meant to be a bit more stylo.but never mind la (:

then...we started on our RELAY RACE! (: hahaha.but de messy at the
beginning cos the stations had to be set up.but we sure hope that you guys had fun and it was worth the 5 min wait. (:

Thanks to all the house affiliates, Zi Zhao, Tisha and Shujun for helping out with the stations. Totally couldn't do it without you guys! hee.

Anws, if you guys can't rmb...we had basically 6 stations: the cups and water game, the ping pong ball game, the birthday arrangement game, the charades and the random questions game!hee.it was really cool seeing you all running around!-laughs- (: hope the sun din get into your head too much tho.rest well and drink water water water!(dunno if there's such a thing as delayed heatstroke)

YO! (: how'd you all enjoy urself yesterday?haha.here's a lil' write-up of the day...-drumrolls-

it all began at 8am.(yesh yesh, even before you all came)... (: me, kwanling and xiuling met up at the monorail to go over and occupy the pavillion first.hee.so kiasu but utterly necessary!

as we were walkin walkin...we saw...2 albino peacocks!-laughs-i went to take a pic of them.then xiuling said that if they open their feathers at me...they are attracted to ME!-laughs-but they din la...haha...i wanted to try again later.but never saw them again.-sob-

anws, the first pavillion was occupied with lots and lots of chairs.so we settled on SAPPHIRE pavillion.hee.anyone with my email will understand the significance.-grins-but anws,we also considered the little island which was SUPER empty then.the whole beach was at that time actually.heh.and we thot tt it could be the IGORIAN island!-laughs-but later we found out that it was dirty ): and there were no powerpoints for our music. ):

ok...so once we put our stuff down in the pavillion, i set off to VIVO again!haha.to fetch you all. (assuming that you dunno the way to the pavillion and...i have your TIX MONEY!-laughs-) i was quite punctual compared to all of you all...-laughs-i think i reached VIVO monorail a minute before 8.50am.-grins-

but anws, i met valerie thia and nora.and we waited...and waited...haha.finally s14 came first,marcus too.then they went off.to buy food for everyone.haha.with my $20.hmms. (: then s02 came...and then s08...and once jingkai called my name, i slipped and fell at the ticketing queue ): it hurted la.

anws, we set off for Sentosa OG by OG. (:

the first thing we did together as a house...was...ultimate frisbee!hee.running on the sand is so tiring la!esp if you can't throw and catch the frisbee properly.heh.

we had a lil' free time to rest or play... (: s08 played monkey and giant twister.hee. (my post is bound to be a bit 08-bias cos im from 08!heh.)

then after i attempted to push one of the guys in my OG, xincheng into the water...i got SABOTAGED! ): the first one to be carried to the water and dumped i think.but i think i set the trend...-laughs-later ppl kept getting into the water (by will or force) and getting WET!yay!hee.

after that...s08 and s02 played water captain's ball!hee.for a long long while, plus our court kept extending.-laughs-hope you all had fun splashing around, stealing the ball and SCREAMING!-laughs-forgive all the violence if any ya?'cos from what i learnt in bball, what happened in court STAYS in court! (: kk?

anws, after we half-timed due to a lack of energy left, we split up for OG resting time...(btw, if any of you guys wanna update everyone on what you all did...you can email it or just tell me...cos i will only have a one person's point of view.hee.actually...if you all got class blogs etc, you can tell me to link it.)

after we all got tired and wet, we all changed and went off for our OG lunches at vivo. (: but before tt, during clear-up, we played the mass dance songs!hee.and had a lil' dance session.-grins-

that kind of marked the end of our IGORIAN GATHERING!hee.thanks to all that came... today after sch...me and nora met up to get the stuff for the IGORIAN GATHERING tmr!hahaha. (:

1) 2 frisbees, 2 basketballs, 8 cones from the PE Dept! (lots of thanks to the wonderful Mr Menon , Mr Sham and Shu Ming and all those who helped like our very own Mr Tan!)

2) the speaker that Tuan's friend lent us (thanks sir, whoever you are) (:

3) the GIANT TWISTER...from Station Games. Thanks to Nic for accompanying me to get it from the Council Pub store. Huaice, for the keys... (: and Kok Hao for the permission.-laughs-

yups. (: then we met up with the S14 OGLs...most of them.Pavan, Marcus and Ling Yan...brought the equipment to my house.then, we set off for Sim Lim... (Tuan's friend's speakers needs a connector thing for the Ipod)

after hopping from store to store... (: we finally found the connector! (: the lady gave us a $2 discount...from $12 to $10.hee.remember the level 2 audio shop girl!

then we proceeded to Novena Sq to collect our t-shirts!hee.we went for a lil food detour first tho...and here comes the interesting part! (:

it started with us...trying to find the link from United Sq to Novena Sq. Silly Pavan stayed silent even though he knew the way cos he thot we were shopping for sth. O.o ah wells...-grins-

then...the first level of Novena Sq...there were the lil food stores.hee.and i bought 10 lil' Jap Sponge Cakes...from a blur Jap Man who mixed up the prev customer's orders.hee.being the nice ol' me, i shared it around!hee.

then we went to see the Rice ball thing that Kwan told Nora about....not tempted to buy...so we din...then i bought...KIWI WAFFLE!-laughs-its not bad...next to the Prima Deli store.nice and hot. (: (forgive me.i ate lunch at 11 plus.it was alr...5 plus then)

then Nora was thinking of what to eat...donuts or kueh...she finally decided on KUEH!-laughs-so down we went again to get 4 kueh! (:

then the guys wanted to try the famous DONUT FACTORY! (: so we brought them there...the queue was unusually long...so me, ling yan and nora went to the t-shirt store first.

Meeting the t-shirt men was real fun!-laughs- (: they were as usual...so cute!haha.a old man and a middle-aged man...but very FUNNY!jokin jokin all the way. (: we counted the sizes first...put them into 5 bags so we could carry one each later...so much stock-taking...then I ALMOST FORGOT TO PAY!-laughs- (: but we finally did la...duh. (:

then we met Pavan and Marcus near the donut area. (: they were happy munching on their food...haha.but Pavan said that it ended too fast for $1.30.haha.

(: the store is so cool la.and the people there are wonderful.hee.val got us under URGENT ORDER!-laughs- (: so we will be collecting our shirts on fri afternoon!can't wait!

about the house pins.we will be buying them from the bookshop like...tmr!-laughs-but there is only 75 left. ): so 08IP06 be patient kk? (: the re-ordering will be after orientation 2, but we promise we will get them to you ASAP! (: -btw, this is because you guys are confirmed to be staying in NJ (: we dun wanna risk not getting the packages to the JC1s in time or anything.hope you guys understand.-

today we had a new HAs meeting in the morning! (: yay!everyone was relatively on time.haha.got a few sleepyheads here and there and one blur king.but it went alright! today was the first house session of the year for JC2s!hee.basically, (for those with memory losses) we played a 'GRAB THE MIKE!' game!-laughs-

hope you all enjoyed the game even if you weren't participating. (: hope the questions were thought-provoking (-grins-) or at least (to some extent...) entertaining! (:

lots of thanks to my class 07S08 and 07S02 for being so EARLY!some of them had to watch us set up.haha.oh oh...i'm really proud of you all!
here's a shout out for all the teams who participated in today's game! (takes a deep breath!)

CNY Celebration House Activities:

1) Fashion show: One rep from each house will dress up wearing a suitable costume which features a chinese word. And our word is... CAI! (which stands for wealth in chinese) Basically we alr have our representative-Zi Zhao from 07ip06. But we nid 43 female volunteers to accompany him. (: Btw, if you guys have any suggestions or ideas for the attire or walk-in, you can tell us via face-to-face, email or tagboard! (:

2) Lantern-making Competition: Every class has to submit a hand-made lantern. The theme for this competition is 'Su Nian' - Rat Year. There is no restriction to the materials, and the dimensions should be roughly 50cm x 50cm.
Judging Criteria-Creativity 40%, Appearance 40%, Adherence to theme 20%
Deadline: 28th January 2008, Monday

3) Calligraphy and Jianzhi Competitions: The competitions will be on the day of the celebration itself. Each class will send 4 representatives to take part in both competitions each.

whoa...that's a lot of info man.-laughs-promise me you guys will be enthu about CNY ya? (: CNY is red man!Red is IGNIS! heehee.

first week of school for JC1s and OGLS!!!

how has the first week been so far?hahaha.JC1s lessons start le ma?haiz...the dear ogls are having a hard time catching up man!!!haha.must support them!-laughs-

there hasn't been much house stuff lately...but behind the scenes there's always stuff happening...hahaha.

we are currently planning the house outing!which will be held on the 26th of january!at Sentosa. (: Those who have paid for the package, will have FREE entry into Sentosa alr...but food is not included hor. (: the basic plan is liddat...we will meet about 8.45am. (rather early but you will know why soon)
we will be bringing you all to the beach where we will have activities between OGs. (: like captain's ball, frisbee...and many more unusual games!haha. (:
then we will have a mini prize presentation then you guys will be dismissed for lunch with your OG and OGLs. (: so the remaining time from lunch onwards will be free and easy.if you guys wanna stay in Sentosa, feel free. (: if not, Vivo is super man!hahaha.lots of shopping and super big!-grins-got cinema somemore...

we are still working on the plans, although most are confirmed alr.so keep your eyes open for more details ya? (: ears sharp too!haha.

besides house outing, we are also working on the next house SESSION!haha.which will be next mon...rather fast. (: but we got a really fun game under our sleeves!so you guys just be ENTHU and high!kk? (: a bit from all that studying mannn...haha.it will be in our DAHLING LT5!for comfort purposes...-laughs-i know a lot of ppl like it there.hmmms.but if too cold, rmb to bring jacket hor.

lastly, the IGORA package is under a lot of work.the collection of money is almost done. hey people! (:

yesterday marked the end for Orientation '08...so funny.before you know it, its over and back to schooling. ): but ah wells.
yesterday we had our last house sesssion for Orientation.and we taught you all a snippet from our walk-in dance... (: hope you all had fun.guys competing against the girls, and vice versa. (friendly competition of course!)
although Pon the Replay didn't come out for the dance party, cos...i checked with the DJ, he didn't have it... ): Spitfire did!haha.which was quite weird cos it was part for our walk-in dance (the beginning actually) that we didn't think would come out.ah wells. (: life is unpredictable! (: just hope you managed to store some cool dance moves in your head for random dancing!-laughs-
ohhh...yesterday the OGLs and weixiang from OG 08 (MY OG!) were into a lil' basketball match for you all...got all hot and sweaty man!haha.and HIGH and panting...-laughs-but i thought our lovely host Pavan did a great job of commenting. (: 3 cheers! there were also people playing in the other half of the court... (: with a small rattan-like ball etc. etc. (: all Pre-house session entertainment.-laughs- (oh oh...thanks to the people who cheered me on!)
then we all split for dinner... (: after that, it was quite hard to gather you all le.but sure hope you guys enjoyed the dinner and the dance party!
oh oh...me and xiuling taught our OG our traditional Meh Meh game...haha.traditional cos it was passed down from our own OGLs... (: and our class is CRAZY about it.or was... haha.real addictive actually...it goes sth like...Black sheep meh meh, white sheep, white sheep...you choose which side is black and white, then sing to this tune the words, if both players head in the same direction e.g. both say black sheep, then when your hands go back into the centre, you both go MEH MEH!haha.sounds fun?actually i think its quite hard to explain via typing.-laughs-find me if you wanna learn!heh heh.

did you all enjoy house session today?so sorry about the mix-up in the venues.i think sth went wrong with the allocation.(here's a sorry to the lignum OGLs too) but let's not brood over that ya? (:
anws, for all those who missed house session for some reason or another, or...for those whose brains need a bit of reminder -laughs-, we started off with OG vs OG poison ball and then 3 OGs vs 3 OGs poison ball... (: congrats to the winners ya?hope you shared the sweets and chocolates! (rmb, sharing is a virtue!haha)
after tt, you guys bombarded the OGLs...heh heh...Kian Hwee from OG08 was the last one standing...GO OG08!-laughs-i think it has largely to do with the fact that he is a full fledged basketballer. (basketballers rock!goes out to ling yan and kwan ling too!and shujun? (: and all the basketballers out there!)
anws, back to topic...after that and our waterbreak in which the OGLs and those who joined us, danced to our mass dance,played the 'bombing' game with actions and phrases. (: oh oh...dun forget the forfeit Val had to do with the pillar.-laughs-and the one Nora got dragged into too... (: you guys rock.so sporting and sexy!-laughs- (yes val...)
i think it was quite fun.funny too. (: but you guys are really hyperactive huh...so fast then bored with the game le...so we threw in the FROG SONG!hahaha.
after teaching you all, each OG came up for a little performance. (: (: (: so cool seeing you guys acting silly together.-laughs-but ah wells.i think its scientifically proven that all of us are at least 20% silly. (: thanks guys for being so enthusiastic!ohhh...not to forget, 06IP06 showed us their own version of the frog song...a bit crude but cute in its own way! (: thanks for sharing.haha.
later, the high Pavan and the wacky Zi Zhao did the imitation of the MRT commands.heh heh.rare treat man.

Walk-in + 1st Orientation House Session

today we welcomed our new JC1s, existing IP3s and new IP1s into the Ignis family. (:
it started with our walk-in...the one we have been practising for...for about 2 months!haha.and i'm proud to say that...it went smoothly!-laughs-GOOD JOB GUYS!
nora and i pulled off a cool rather impromptu stunt at the beginning, her with the siren and me just posing behind to check if the banners came down properly.-laughs-(could hear my cousin screaming my name O.o)
anws, then Marcus went in with the loud-haler (oh anws, nora and guys dun worry about our DAHLING loud-haler, its back in the PE dep room.haha.i rather kiasu, scared will get lost, so return le -grins-)
i think there was a bit of a lag cos he actually started with the beat that we were supposed to enter with instead of the starting beat.but we went in not long after so anws... (:
Nora and I walked to the front doors and everything went on quite as planned. haha.
Leung Yan said that he heard 'whoa...'s at weird timings tho...like when the banners came down...ok thats not tt weird...but also at the beginning of Spitfire (first hip-hop) and the chorus bit of I Want Candy remix (second hip-hop)...which is honestly not that hard dance moves.
but hey!haha.WE should be proud of ourselves...c'mon la...we are not all dancers man!but the fact that we managed to pull together this and all...shows that we really got sth burning inside man! (: (: (: thanks so much to the OGLs for the efforts and hard work put in ya? (:
AHHHH... (: our stomp is like...one of the best stomps we ever did.ESPECIALLY in the hall.-laughs-thank lady luck man!haha.we were all so happy we ended on beat TOGETHER!-laughs- its a cause for celebration man!

the first week of orientation is OVER!so fast eh?haha...we are done and gone with the (comparatively) boring ADMIN stuff!yay! (:
anws, the ogls have been VERY busy with the walk-in preparations for our house IGORA!haha.its tough work for a 10min peformance man...but we gotta HANG IN there!
wanna take this oppurtunity to thank the walk-in comm!you guys rock!thanks for always being so enthu and serious when we nid to be. (: and i also wanna thank all of the DARLING igorian OGLs for putting in their best efforts and to doing their part to make our DREAM performance come true! (: its on monday guys!and tmrs the last full dress rehearsal!we can do it man!!! (:
besides the walk-in, there are still lots of things we got to do for orientation as a house!the house sessions...the house outing!
the first house session will be on monday!after the walk-in!so let's not neglect that yah?house session comm jia you!
and the house outing...although its considerably not so 'breathing down our necks' AS YET.but time is really running short.and we really nid to push on with our plans.so set the fire going ya?rmb if you nid any help or anything, its not just a 3 person comm.you got the HAT with you.we are always here.and you can ask the other OGLs too!haha.we are a team!
anyways, you may be thinkin...why is michele typing this super long post.and no...i don't think i'm quite finishing yet.-laughs-
i just came back from another impromptu OGL cum some OG members dinner and ice-cream + game outing!haha.don't have the pictures as yet, cos kwan has the camera...but it should be added soon. (: it was real fun!we had dinner at curry wok.den went to swirl for ice cream and games!kwan was our Taboo announcer and we all had fun laughing and shooting out random words.-laughs-
the other day the OGLs also went to Pizza Hut after the walk-in rehearsal.it was quite a bit of fun too!watching zizhao and shihao pile cheese on their...(was it a pizza slice?)anws, after they did that, you couldn't quite recognise what it was anymore.ohhh...and we realised that bringing a GC to lunch is not such a bad idea.thanks to pavan and shihao for doing the accounting!haha. (although me and nora did a more efficient job at curry wok!-grins-)
just yesterday too...tuan, pavan, shihao, ling yan, leung yan and i went to eat lemon chicken rice at coro!haha.we were in love with mr yong's physics notes... (: (: (: so PRETTY! (or maybe it was just me in love with it) it has an inspirational quote at the bottom of every page la!haha.how sweet...shihao was counting the number of times i chew my food before i eat. O.o apparently its 40.are you sure?...haha.-doubts-
ok ok...i think that's about it...for my 'short' update on everything that has missed so far!haha.or the significant Igorian related things. (:

orientation preparation mania!!! (:

hey guys! (:
the ogls have just finished our 3 day long...(1 night stay-over only tho) OGL camp! (: it basically brought us through everything of Orientation '08 Step Up, including mass dance, the Quest (external hunt), station games and war games!tiring but fun!haha.
oh oh...we learnt a new Combined House cheer...it uses the Orientation house names.i'll add it on to the Cheers lists under the 'House section' of this blog. (:
Anws, the walk-in rehearsals have been rather hectic lately.tmr will be our FIRST full-dress rehearsal with the other houses.the other day we had a rehearsal with all of them too and got some pretty constructive suggestions. (: so we off improving!haha.
Just in case you all are interested, the walk-in consists of a hip-hop dance to the song 'Spitfire' and another to a dance mix (we call it 'I Want Candy', but trust me, its COOL.-grins-), and a Stomp stint! (: we are working on how to make them flow better so it won't be too segmented. (:
Yesterday we had another of our own practices. Actually i think most of the other houses were practising in school too.haha.We were mostly working on our Stomp bit. (: Tough tough, but its FUN. (:
We went up to the hall for a while, courtesy of Solaris. (thanks thanks) They gave us their last 5 mins or sth...we practised 2 times. It was quite funny cos the Uncle (think it was the OM) came in and started switchin off the lights. So before we knew it, we were doing our Stomp in almost darkness. (: and amazingly, it was quite GOOD.haha.
Although our dear conductor, Xuemin says that we still have much to improve on, I think we should be pretty proud of what we have achieved so far and keep working on it! (: like Leung Yan says, we are the only house without a Western Dancer choreographing everything, instead our walk-in is a mixture of everything that we are... (: (ok, i summed up everything he said into one line) -grins-
Anws, after our practice, we kept our materials and then prayed for the rain to stop. When it finally did, we dashed out of SCHOOL! (: to buy our dahling costumes...
It was a tiring shopping trip.-laughs-(esp for Pavan, sportmen aren't made for shopping) but in the end, we got most of our stuff from Bugis, the market and the Junction. Thanks to Nora and Kwan Ling for all the logistics of shopping, like the allocation of what type of tank tops for who and what colour of jackets for who.haha.its a tough job contacting outlets and all. And Thanks so much to the people who contributed money for those who couldn't make it and those who went out of their way to check and buy costumes for others. (:
OH. I didn't tell you about our lunch...haha. The 3 wise men (Zizhao, Pavan and Shi Hao) first scared me with their diet spree. They were munching on 'extra rice' and coleslaw! then after that, they went to get 2 servings of popcorn chicken thing. Cheers for their attempt to have an economical lunch (:

The Christmas Flight

It was a few days before Christmas. The trip went reasonably well, and he was ready to go back home. The airport on the other end had turned a tacky red and green, and loudspeakers blared annoying elevator renditions of cherished Christmas carols.

Being someone who took Christmas very seriously, and being slightly tired, he was not in a particularly good mood. (Almost a scrooge) Going to check in his luggage (which, for some reason, had become one suitcase with entirely new clothes), he saw hanging mistletoe. Not real mistletoe, but very cheap plastic with red paint on some of the rounder parts and green paint on some of the flatter and pointer parts, that could be taken for mistletoe only in a very Picasso sort of way.

With a considerable degree of irritation and nowhere else to vent it, he said to the attendant, “Even if we were married, I would not want to kiss you under such a ghastly mockery of mistletoe.”

”Sir, look more closely at where the mistletoe is.”

”Ok, I see that it’s above the luggage scale which is the place you’d have to step forward for a kiss.”

”That’s not why it’s there.”

”Ok, I give up. Why is it there?”

”It’s there so you can kiss your luggage good-bye.”
